(That should perk up those search engines…ha ha.) I went to see the movie Babel today, finally. I love the director’s other (difficult) films. I’ve been looking forward to Babel since I first heard about it in late summer. It is a beautiful (though sad, bleak) movie. Really sensitively made, complex and beautifully paced and “painted”. So say I, at least.
If more people saw (and understood) movies like this one, there would be less pain in the world. Everything relating to people and relationships is complex, and when we simplify things we come to wrong conclusions. Very moving, beautifully acted and shot. It’s not all bleak — I found myself smiling and laughing quite often, too (you know, that sort of sad, tender laugh we sometimes have).
Meanwhile, I have no idea what’s happening with the weather. Beautiful “spring” day today — sunny and warm with a powerful wind that smelled of March… And the temperature is going up and up — to 12 on Friday and 16 (!!!!!!) on Saturday. Watch out, poor plants and trees, don’t be fooled or you will be caught with your buds showing when real winter arrives — when it eventually does!
